Below are 5 home-related events that can change your insurance needs, costs, and eligibility that we’ll only know about if you tell us:
- When you pay off your loan or mortgage. We do not get notifications from lenders when they no longer require proof of insurance because the loan is paid off.
- When you’re shopping for a new home. Two months before closing is a great time to start a conversation with your agent about your new home, and you’ll appease your lender if you get a quote to them quickly.
- When you sell a vehicle or a house. If you forget to tell us, we may need a signed request and proof of sale in order to backdate the cancellation. When you move apartments, we can easily update the address for your Renters Insurance and make sure your landlord has the paperwork they require.
- When you update, upgrade, add on to, or remodel your home. Some updates will change your coverages and premium, and some won’t – there’s only one way to find out.
- When you get a new roof. Insurance companies do not look kindly on roofs with multiple layers, so if your roofer offers you that option, please discuss it with your agent before having the work done.
