We hope by now that you know two things about Kasmann Insurance: 1. We sell personal and commercial insurance products from a variety of carriers and will do our best to match our best product with the best price for our customers. 2. We LOVE animals, especially the rescued kind. Because of this passion, the Kasmann Agency is proud to sponsor the 16th Annual Paws in the Park! The schedule is a little different this year, with a half-day event to focus on the 5k race sponsored by Heart of Missouri Girls on the Run.  Paws in the Park will be at Stephens Lake Park on Saturday, September 21st from 12-8pm and you can also join the group at Logboat Brewing Co. from 7-10 pm to meet adoptable animals!

Second Chance

Paws In the Park benefits Second Chance, a privately-funded organization that has been dedicated to re-homing unwanted animals in Columbia, MO since 1985.  Shannon Kasmann serves on their board and has been volunteering with Second Chance for 20 years, as well as being involved with their Paws In the Park event since it began 16 years ago.  The group cares for strays, animals from local shelters, and even those given up by their families.  Numerous wonderful volunteers help with healthy, sick or injured, and newborn animals at their adoption center near Boonville, or through the help of their many foster homes.  No animals are ever euthanized at Second Chance, as volunteers passionately try to find homes for each and every pet, along with educating and providing resources to their owners.

Festival Activities

Second Chance hopes that Paws in the Park will be both educational and fun for pet lovers of all ages.  They will continue their “Adopt Foster Educate” motto this year by expanding their walking informational tour with new opportunities to “Ask the Trainer” or “Ask the Vet”.  The Canine Carnival will also return and include a few games that don’t involve pets.  As in years past, your furry family members are welcome at the Stephens Park event.  There will be food and business vendors, and a community supported silent auction that starts on Saturday morning and ends Saturday afternoon. The 5k race is sponsored by Heart of Missouri Girls on the Run this year and begins at 6pm at Stephens Lake.  Don’t feel up to racing? You can always sign-up and just enjoy a nice walk with your dog! You can register for the 5k here: https://www.facebook.com/events/2674593762552980/

Interested in Adoption?

For those interested in adding a cat or dog to their families, Second Chance will have many of their animals available for adoption. They also want to promote the good work of their fellow animal welfare organizations, so animals from other rescues will be available as well.  If you are looking for a new furry family member, head down to Logboat Brewing Co. from 7-10 to meet the area’s most eligible adoptables (your animals are welcome there, as well).

Contributions by The Kasmann’s

Bill and Shannon each enjoy living in Columbia, Missouri and find it essential to give back to this great community through the sponsorship of local events. Along with sponsoring other local events, they are proud to support Second Chance by sponsoring Paws in the Park each year. In years past the race has typically been in the mornings but this year it will begin at 6 p.m. to correspond with the happy hour afterwards at Logboat Brewing Company.  You can usually count on seeing Shannon at the event, but you may run into some of our other agents, as well.  The key to a successful Paws in the Park is YOU so come out to Stephens Lake Park or Logboat Brewing Co. and say hello if you see a member of the Kasmann team!
