Kasmann Insurance Agency is a locally owned, independent insurance agency focused on Personal and Small Business Lines of Property, Casualty and Life Insurance.

Carrying Forward the Kasmann Tradition

Kasmann Insurance is currently owned by Stacey Oldfield. Stacey took ownership of the agency in 2020 from the former brother-and-sister team, Bill and Shannon Kasmann. She first began working with the agency in 2007 as a Personal Lines Underwriter at Auto-Owners Insurance, where she quickly developed a trust and appreciation for the Kasmann family and the way they ran their agency.

Stacey’s career in insurance actually began in small, family-owned agencies in northern Illinois in the late 1990s. After a few years and a stint in underwriting, she found herself drawn back to the agency side of the industry. She reached out to the Kasmanns in the spring of 2012, was invited to “come in and chat,” and she’s been part of the team ever since.

A Legacy Continues

When Bill and Shannon began thinking about retirement, no one in the next generation of the Kasmann family was interested in taking over the agency. They approached Stacey, and she was eager for the opportunity. Today, it is once again a true family agency — Stacey’s daughter, who practically grew up in the office, is now a licensed agent, proudly continuing the family legacy the Kasmanns built in this community.

1923

Norris Sampson opens an insurance agency in Rocheport, MO

1945

The agency moves downtown Columbia on Broadway

1951

Bill Kasmann Sr. marries Norris’s daughter, Martha and joins his father-in-law full-time at the agency

1962

the agency’s name changes to Sampson-Kasmann Insurance Agency and moves a couple blocks away to Walnut Ave.

 1968

January Norris Sampson retires

August Bill Sr. marries Dorothy (Dotty) Kundrock

December Bill Sr. purchases the current agency location at 116 N Garth Ave. and the name is changed to Kasmann Insurance

1978

Bill’s son, Bill Jr., joins the agency after graduating college from the University of Missouri

1997

Shannon Kasmann joins her father and brother at the agency

2012

Bill Sr. retires and Stacey Oldfield joins the agency

2014

Bill Jr. and Shannon take ownership

2020

Ownership is transferred to Stacey Oldfield

2023

Stacey’s daughter, Rhiannon, joins the agency

Stacey Oldfield

Agency Principal, Commercial and Life Insurance Agent

Stacey Oldfield is the owner, Commercial Lines and Life Insurance Specialist at Kasmann Insurance. Stacey has been employed in the insurance industry for 28 years and has held a Producer’s License that entire time. Her experience ranges from small agency offices to large corporate branches, including Personal Lines Underwriting with Auto-Owners Insurance, our preferred company.

A Job Turned Career

Stacey was born and raised in a small, rural town in northwest Illinois. She says the opportunity to work in insurance sort of “happened by accident” after her first year of college, but she stuck with it since she’s always liked working with numbers and helping people. After spending a few years providing customer service in small, family-owned agencies, Stacey decided she wanted to make a career of it and work behind the scenes in Underwriting. While working full-time at the State Farm Regional Office, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia College.

Full-Circle

Stacey decided to return to the agency side of the industry again in 2011. Although her previous experience had been with exclusive carriers, she welcomed the benefits of several companies to work with in an independent agency. Since Kasmann Insurance was one of her favorite agencies when she was underwriting at Auto-Owners Insurance, she chose to give them a call and was offered a position the same day!

Fast forward nearly a decade and Stacey had become so invested in her client relationships and her work, that when presented with the opportunity to purchase the agency from Bill and Shannon Kasmann, she couldn’t say ‘no.’ Stacey is proud to be the owner and face of the agency and now supports the Commercial Lines and Life Insurance clientele. Kasmann Insurance is the only local, single-owner woman-owned Independent Agency in Columbia, Missouri.

After Work

Stacey enjoys spending her free time outdoors in her yard and flower gardens and getting exercise by walking one of her dogs. She also enjoys shopping at local stores and boutiques with her teenage daughter. After years of scouring local antique stores and flea markets for treasures, she recently opened a booth in Loose Creek at Lizzie Lou’s (https://www.facebook.com/vintagelizzielou).

Stacey is proud to lead the Kasmann Team. Her industry experience and underwriting knowledge have been vital to the agency sales force, as well as her media marketing experience. Rhiannon Williams

Personal Lines Agent

Rhiannon Williams (named after the Fleetwood Mac song “Rhiannon”) was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri. She attended RockBridge High School and graduated with honors. Rhiannon began working part-time at Kasmann Insurance when she was still in high-school, but became a full-time, Licensed Agent the summer after graduating.

Growing Up in the Office

Before working at Kasmann Insurance, Rhiannon can remember practically growing up in the office. Often, as a Grant Elementary school student, she would sometimes end her school day with a walk up Garth Avenue to visit her mother at work. During the pandemic (which was a hard time to be entering high school), Rhiannon spent her days completing her schoolwork in Bill Kasmann’s old office. Ironically, this space became her office last Fall. 

Personal Lines Specialist

You may have worked with Rhiannon on the phone, or in-person, since she specializes in Personal Lines. She makes sure to do everything she can to make customers feel as though they’re treated with the same level of care that Kasmann Insurance Agency has always provided. Although she never envisioned entering the insurance industry when she was younger (due to a slight aversion to numbers), she is happy to help her mother continue the legacy of family-run business and finds it to be a rewarding career path.

After Work

When she’s not in the office, Rhiannon enjoys creating art, making clothes and binge-watching shows. She also enjoys shopping at other small businesses in the mid-Missouri area, especially thrift stores. She has always been passionate about animals and rescued a pup from Columbia Second Chance a couple years ago. You may have met her dog Samantha Josephin (aka Sammy Joe) in the office before. She loves to tag along with Rhiannon wherever she goes!
