We are pleased to introduce the newest member of the Kasmann team, Jeff Murphy. Insurance is pretty effortless for Jeff; he has over ten years of experience as an independent agent, and prior to that, he spent more than five years with a captive agency. His forté in the agency is as a Commercial Lines Specialist, but he can certainly help you with any Personal Lines needs, as well.
Jeff was born and raised in Marshfield, Missouri, which is southwest on I-44 toward Springfield. Growing up in a traditional family, Jeff was the youngest of two boys. He jokes that he was such a nerd, and unlike most people, he actually dreamed of having a career in risk management. Instead of analyzing statistics and pie charts, Jeff was first given an opportunity to master the art of pizza pies.
After a few years managing pizza restaurants, he decided to try his hand at managing risks through selling insurance. His first stepping stone was working for a Guide One Insurance agency in Springfield. Jeff soon began striving for an insurance designation and the accompanying letters behind his name (the industry equivalent of a college degree). After completing 100 hours of instruction, Jeff earned the coveted Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in late 2010.
There are not many people who are enthusiastic about insurance; most feel it is a necessary evil. Jeff Murphy gets more excited talking about insurance than anyone you’ll probably ever meet. He’ll even teach you all about it if you want to sit down with him and his trusty whiteboard, where he will illustrate and analyze numerous points. His knowledge of policy forms and language, as well as his diligence in making sure no one is under protected, are what makes him such an awesome insurance agent. If he can’t find a plan or program that works for a company’s specific needs, he’s even been known to piecemeal commercial coverages to build something entirely new!
Jeff made the move north to Columbia this summer, after some life changes left him searching for a change of scenery. Most days (and evenings) you can find him at the office, living and breathing insurance. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys getting outside and spending time in nature as well as, participating in outdoor sports. He is also a member of a large, philanthropic fraternal organization. Jeff is enjoying familiarizing himself with Columbia (he LOVES the Broadway Diner!), and is currently looking forward to making more new friends and bonding with his new four-legged friend, Ruthie.
